Blah, blah, blah

Homemade Marinara Recipe - Sept. 23, 2023

This weekend I made homemade stuffed shells for our little family of three.
Here's the recipe for the Marinara. (no meat/broth/stocks, so veggie-saurus approved). It isn't a sweet marinara, but if you'd like it a little sweet, you could add chopped dried cranberries, honey, or even  a smidge of your choice of sugar.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup chopped Red Onion

2-3 cloves of Garlic

3tsp Olive Oil

28oz Crushed Tomatoes or 28 oz of Whole Tomates (you can crush with fork/masher)

14 oz Tomato Puree

2/3 tsp dried Basil

1 tsp dried Oregano

1 tsp dried Thyme

1/3 tsp dried Rosemary

S&P to taste

Red wine ( we like a dry merlot or cabarnet)

Cook:

1. Warm up olive oil. Sautee Red Onions till translucent. Add chopped garlic and sautee. S&P to taste.

2. Add in Crushed Tomatoes and Tomato Puree. Stir gently.

3. Add in dried spices and stir gently. Let simmer. (taste-test to add S&P)

4. After about 5-8 minutes, add in a bit of Red Wine(I like a thicker marinara, so I add about 1/3 cup). Stir and cover. Simmer for 30-45 minutes.

5. Taste sauce and add S&P to taste.
